Coming across these surroundings, different persons will forge their identities.
Through their initial interactions we discover their petty need to be on top of situations, not missing a chance for dominating the others. Watching them, it is difficult, however, to tell who is in fact controlling whom and what.
Eventually, they will take a step in the direction of yet another being. Upon this new arrival, they challenge themselves, their individuality and the concern for the other. This gesture will lead them to the shattering of their adopted personae and to reveal their despair.
In response to a need for action, their proposal will be one of imagining and reinventing, of creating.
An unidentified figure ignored by most of them will watch us, the audience, throughout the course of their action." - In HERE
What am I talking about? Well, this was a dance performance that I attended last Saturday, as part of the European Capital of Culture 2012 - Guimarães, and it was AMAZING! I sincerely loved it! As you can see from the text above, the subject was quite sharp and dense...in fact it was so dense that it might had been a bit too harsh for a part of the audience! I certainly will not spoil the thing for you guys who might, one day, find your way to this show, but I can assure that it is quite a magnificent approach to the Human Condition and specially in matters of the tiny aspects of life and personality! About the dancers I just have to take vow! They were outstanding...got me speechless!
A negative thing, however, caught me unprepared! You see, when you go to these kind of shows you have to know the language of the dance and specially the symbols being used (not by the performance itself but by the contemporary dance ideals and metaphors)...not a difficult thing if you are an open-minded person, willing to learn! In fact, if you don't understand any of those aspects you might get a massive fuzz on your mind. That indeed happened! In fact, most of the audience was around their 70s, and not only they got there by luck (a travel agency sold the show as part of a sightseeing package of Guimarães...At least I suppose so) as they didn't know what they were about to see! The consequence: when the subject got shocking (nudity on the stage and a bit of psychological sharpness) the unprepared crowd got on their way! My emotion was an enormous sadness...if I was their, dancing I couldn't help it but to feel an enormous frustration!

De que estarei eu a falar? Ora, falo-vos de um bailado de dança contemporânea que assisti no passado Sábado para a Capital Europeia da Cultura 2012 - Guimarães. Garanto-vos que foi maravilhoso!!! Não só amei a qualidade técnica dos bailarinos, como todo o enredo, abordagem e profundidade da performance. Na verdade, e como vocês poderiam antever pelo texto acima, o argumento apresenta-se de uma forma bem dura, passível de uma abordagem um tanto ao quanto violenta. Não quero ser um spoiler para nenhum dos meus seguidores, portanto não vos vou dar promenores nenhuns, apenas dizer que é algo merecedor de ser visto por qualquer pessoa com interesse por um espectáculo muito bem conseguido e de uma grande profundidade e beleza. Para quem assistir é de esperar um belo ensaio sobre a condição humana e especialmente sobre a vida.
Agora, como sempre, há um "mas"! Não que diga respeito ao espectáculo, mas sim na magnificência (tom irónico) da audiência! Não sei porquê, mas garanto que metade dos espectadores não estavam minimamente sabedores do contexto da dança contemporânea, muito menos do que esperar de um espectáculo como este. Em boa verdade, acho que alguma agência de viagens deve ter incluído a performance num pacote para visitar a cidade naquele fim-de-semana (não fossem os autocarros das agências à entrada)...vai daí, a audiência era composta maioritariamente por idosos acima dos 70 anos (não que isso signifique grande coisa), que não faziam a menor ideia do que estavam prestes a ver. Se pensarem bem, uma pessoa que não perceba nada de dança nem da linguagem usada, ou que não se mostre aberto a novas experiências, nada vai conseguir retirar de uma obra como esta senão desconforto! Consequência: quando a experiência passou para a sua porção mais densa, introspectiva, visualmente e psicologicamente violenta, a parte dos espectadores que se incluía no grupo que falei saiu da sala! Incrédulos? Eu fiquei...e só consegui ter uma enorme vontade de bater palmas aos magníficos bailarinos...se fosse eu naquele palco teria ficado completamente desmotivado! Não consigo perceber estas coisas...fico completamente furioso!
